Garbanzo beans, tahini, garlic, maybe a splash of lemon juice and a quick whirl in the food processor-that's all there is to a basic hummus. Knowing how easy it is to prepare homemade hummus, we were skeptical at first about using prepackaged versions. Turns out, we liked them, but to make them even better, we combined them with some of our favorite fresh ingredients to create a dip and pizza. Available in a variety of flavors, hummus is packed with fiber and high in protein, iron and vitamin C. It's great in vegetarian diets and a healthful option to serve as a dip or sandwich spread.
