- 8 large eggs, room temperature
- 11/2 cups whole milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 11/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, optional garnish
- Fruit topping (Optional):
- 3 cups fresh mixed berries, I used 2 cups quartered strawberries and 1 cup blackberries
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, from half the lemon you zested
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
