After tallying the thousands of votes submitted by DaVinci Wines Facebook fans, the four 2014 DaVinci Storytellers were announced in September. The Storytellers—Jennifer, Celeste, Kristin and Karen—traveled to Vinci, Italy, home to DaVinci Wine’s cooperative of more than 200 growers, to spend a week learning about the people and place behind DaVinci Wine and celebrating all things Chianti. Now the Storytellers are sharing a piece of Tuscany through their own eyes via colorful narratives, inspired new recipes, breathtaking photographs, and the video stories below. Continue to follow along on the DaVinci Facebook page in the coming months as the Storytellers share new expressions of their Tuscan experiences.
Kristin Vrana’s Experience
Ciao from Vinci! Watch as Storyteller Kristin Vrana shares her first impressions of the DaVinci Storyteller Experience, including a look at her very first Tuscan sunset.
Curious about what life is like as a DaVinci Storyteller? Read Kristin’s recap of her trip, and learn about her experience blending her very own version of Chianti!
Celeste Noche’s Experience
Watch as Storyteller Celeste Noche explores the historic kitchen in the Casale di Valle, the Storytellers’ Italian home away from home. Once a hunting lodge from the 16th century, the enchanting Casale is now the property of the DaVinci grower co-operative and sits in the heart of vineyards in Vinci.
In this blog post, Celeste describes her Storyteller experience as “a whirlwind of meeting local artisans, learning the ins-and-outs of Chianti and tasting more delectable food and drink that left me more smitten with this amazing country than I thought possible,” and shares the above image of a pre-dinner glass of DaVinci Chianti at the Casale di Valle.
Karen Tedesco’s Experience
Here, Storyteller Karen Tedesco shares her experience making tiramisu with DaVinci Wine’s very own Chef Anna. Pair a glass of DaVinci Pinot Grigio with this classic Italian dessert for the perfect end to any meal.
While in Vinci, Karen enjoyed the natural herbs growing on the Casale di Valle property, inspiring her to create this recipe for Tuscan Brined Pork Chops with Salsa Verde, which pairs beautifully with DaVinci Chianti.
Jennifer Wood’s Experience
In this video, Storyteller Jennifer Wood shares why pizza making at the Casale di Valle is best paired with a glass of DaVinci Pinot Grigio.
The Storytellers took a trip to the Tuscan hillside town of Montalcino, where the team at Cantine Leonardo da Vinci was hard at work harvesting grapes. Jennifer explains how they learned that the Sangiovese grapes shown here would be aged in oak barrels for at least three years to be made into DaVinci’s Brunello di Montalcino.
