This slightly sweet, peppery biscuit is great served with a glass of wine.
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon cracked pepper
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup red wine
- Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Mix the vegetable oil and wine in a small bowl. Add the flour mixture, stirring just until moistened. Shape into a 1-inch diameter log. Cut into 1/4-inch slices. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 350F for 12 minutes. Turn with a small turner. Bake for 6 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack. Store in an airtight container.
