Turtle Brownies

  • Yield 25 servings


1 box German Chocolate Cake Mix
3/4 cup margarine, melted
2/3 cup evaporated milk (like Carnation)
1 package caramels
1 package caramels
1 cup chopped pecans
3 tablespoons water


  1. Combine dry cake mix with melted margarine and 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
  2. Spread half of batter into greased and floured 9×13 pan.  Bake 6 minutes at 350 degrees.
  3. Unwrap caramels and place in bowl.  Add 1/3 cup evaporated milk.  Microwave until caramels are melted and smooth.
  4. Pour caramel mixture over baked cake.
  5. Sprinkle chocolate chips and pecans over melted caramel mixture.
  6. Add 3 T. water to remaining batter.  Spread over top of pecan layer, using fingers to spread.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
  8. Cool.  Refrigerate for easier cutting.  Cut into squares.
