Thousand Island Dressing

  • Yield 2 cups

We always use this dressing, and no other kind. We never tire of it. It's been a favorite for sixteen years.


1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon horseradish
1 tablespoon cold water
1 teaspoon mustard
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1 teaspoon red pepper
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 small onion, grated
1 teaspoon sugar, optional


  1. In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, oil, ketchup, Worcestershire, and horseradish. Stir in the water, mustard, paprika, Tabasco, red pepper, garlic, onion, and sugar. Store in refrigerator.

The tangy dressing is delicious on any type of green salad or as a dip for vegetables.
