Texas Sheet Cake
- Yield 16 - 20 pieces
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1/2 pound margarine
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup buttermilk or sour milk
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 medium eggs lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 1/2 pound margarine
- 6 tablespoons coffe (cooked)
- 1 pound powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped nuts
Instructions
Cake: Sift flour & sugar together. set aside. Melt margarine, cocoa, & water in sauce pan bring to a boil, till margarine is melted then pour over flour & sugar mixture – mix well.
Add buttermilk, cinnamon, vanilla, eggs, & soda mix well. Bake in greased & floured jellyroll pan (16 x 17 inch) at 350* 20 – 25 min.
Frosting: combine in a pan cocoa margarine & coffee bring to boil till margarine is melted and remove from heat then add powered sugar vanilla & nuts beat until smooth and gently pour over warm cake. Cool before serving
