Sweet ‘n’ Smoky Oven Barbequed Chicken

  • Yield 4 servings


1 whole broiler-fryer chicken, cut in serving pieces
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon hickory smoked salt
1 large onion, sliced
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Barbeque Sauce:
1/2 cup catsup
1/2 cup cooking oil
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup vinegar



  1. Place chicken skin side up, in baking pan. Pour water around chicken. Tuck onion slices in and around the chicken. Sprinkle with hickory smoked saltand pepper. Bake chicken, uncovered, for 30 minutes in 375 degree F. oven. Pour barbecue sauce over chicken, bake 30 minutes longer.
