Lightly oil a 13 in x 9 in pan. Beat together the first seven ingredients. Mix soda with 2 tablespoons boiling water and add to the first mixture. While beating, add 1 cup boiling water and flour alternately–start with flour and end with water. Pour into prepared pan and bake 40 minutes.
