South Georgia Pecan Pie

1/4cup sugar
4tablespoons butter, softened
1cup dark corn syrup
1/4teaspoon salt
1teaspoon vanilla
3-- eggs
1 1/2cups pecans
1-- (9-inch) deep dish pie shell, unbaked


  1. Preheat oven to 350F.  
  2. In medium mixing bowl, cream together sugar and butter with electric mixer on medium speed.  Add corn syrup, salt and vanilla, mixing well to combine.  Add eggs one at at time, beating well after each addition.  Stir in pecans.  Pour into pie shell.  Bake 45 minutes, or until pie is set.  Cool and serve with whipped topping.
