Smoky Beef Chili with Apple Cider and Black Olives

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 -- onion, chopped
3 -- garlic cloves, chopped
1 -- (6-ounce) can tomato paste
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons coarse salt
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 -- (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 -- (14-ounce) can diced stewed tomatoes
1 -- (14-ounce) can fire-roasted diced tomatoes
1 -- apple cider (or juice)
1 cup water
1 -- (15-ounce) can cannellini beans
1 -- (4-ounce) can sliced California Ripe Olives
-- Shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown beef with onion and garlic 5 minutes. Add tomato paste, cumin, chili powders, mustard, salt and basil. Cook 10 minutes. Add tomatoes (undrained), apple cider and water. Simmer 30 minutes. Add beans and olives. Cook 10 minutes. Serve with shredded cheese.
