Raisin Chipotle Grilling Sauce

A perfect mop sauce for grilled chicken or pork.

1 cup prepared barbecue sauce
1 1/2 cups California raisins
1 cup husked, rinsed and chopped tomatillos
1/2 cup lime juice
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup chopped onions
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 to 2 chipotle chiles, canned in adobo sauce, minced, and sauce to taste


  1. Combine ingredients in a small saucepan; cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
  2. Let cool, then puree in a blender or food processor. Makes about 3 cups.
