Plantation Mint Julep
- Yield 20 servings
A refreshing drink to help you relax after a hard day at work.
- 4 cups water
- 3 cups sugar
- Leaves from 15 to 20 large mint stalks
- Crushed ice
- Kentucky bourbon
- Boil water in heavy saucepan; add sugar and mint leaves and allow to boil for 10 minutes. Let cool. Put mixture into a jug and refrigerated. Allow to stand for at least 30 days.
- To make julep, pour 1 1/2 ounces of sugar mixture and 3 ounces of bourbon over shaved ice. Stir and serve with short straws and a mint sprig garnish.
