Orange Slice Cake

  • Yield 12 servings

Orange slice candy stars in this tasty cake.


2 cups chopped pecans
1 pound orange slices
1 -- (8-ounce) package dates
1 can coconut
1 cup butter (not oleo)
4 -- eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1 teaspoon soda
2 cups plain flour


  1. Melt butter and pour over pecans, orange slices dates and coconut.  Mix the eggs, sugar, buttermilk, soda and flour and pour over first mixture.
  2. Mix well.  Use a greased and floured tube pan.  Bake 1 1/2 to 2 hours at 300F or bake until firm.  Cake stays fresh for several days and freezes well.
