Orange Mint Lemonade

  • Yield: 12 cups


1 1/2 to 2cups sugar
2 1/2cups water
-- grated zest of 1 orange
2/3cup orange juice
1 1/3cups lemon juice
3/4cup mint leaves
7cups cold water


  1. Bring the sugar and 2 1/2 cups water to a boil in a heavy saucepan.  Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for 5 minutes.  Add the orange zest, orange juice, lemon juice and mint leaves.  Let stand, covered, for 1 hour.
  2. Strain the mixture into a 1-gallon container.  Add 7 cups cold water.  Chill until serving time.  Serve over ice.  Garnish with orange slices and mint springs if desired.
