Old Fashioned Bread Pudding

1/4stick stick butter or marjarine
5slices slices day old bread
1/4cup raisins
1pint half n half
2units eggs
1/2cup sugar
1/4teaspoon salt
1/2teaspoon cinnamon
1/4teaspoon nutmeg
1/2teaspoon vanilla
1/2stick butter
1/4cup powdered sugar
1/4cup sugar
1/4teaspoon vanilla
1/4teaspoon salt
1/4teaspoon cinnamon
1/4cup rum


Prehat oven to 350.  Melt butter and pour over bread pieces.  Use 1 1/2 quart baking dish.  Scald half and half.  Beat eggs slightly.  Add sugar, salt, spices and vanilla.  Mix well.  Add raisins. Pour over hot half and half into egg mix.  Pour entire mixture over bread.  Set dish in a pan of water.  Bake for 40 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean.  Remove from hot water.  While still warm, pour rum sauce over the top.

Rum Sauce – melt butter.  Add remaining ingredients.  Cook until thickened.  Keep warm while bread pudding bakes.
