PrintEmail Ingredients 1 cup sugar1/2 cup shortening1 -- egg, beaten1 1/4 cups flour1/2 teaspoon salt1/2 teaspoon baking powder1 1/4 teaspoons nutmeg1/2 cup buttermilk1/2 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water1 teaspoon vanilla1 to 2 tablespoon sugar3/4 cup raisins (about) Instructions Cream sugar and shortening. Beat in egg. Add flour, salt, baking powder and nutmeg. Stir in buttermilk, dissolved baking soda and vanilla. Spread in buttered 8 1/2×13 1/2-inch pan. Sprinkle liberally with sugar and raisins.
