PrintEmail Ingredients 1 cup granulated sugar1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar3 tablespoons water2 -- unbeaten egg whites1 teaspoon vanilla Instructions Put all ingredients except vanilla in top of double boiler under which water is already boiling. Beat until is stands in peaks. Stir in vanilla. For fruit icings (such as orange, pineapple, etc.), use 3 tablespoons of the juice in place of water and 3 tablespoons grated or chopped fruit in place of vanilla.
