Monkey Bread (with Frozen Bread Dough)

  • Yield 8 servings


2 loaves frozen bread dough; semi-thawed
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 stick butter
3/4 cup vanilla ice cream
2 pinches cinnamon for sprinkling
2 pinches sugar for sprinkling
1/2 cup walnut or pecan pieces, if desired


  1. Cut loaves of bread into large bite-size pieces (with pizza cutter) and put in a greased angel food cake pan or a Bundt pan.
  2. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and nuts. Bring brown sugar, white sugar, butter and ice cream to a boil. Pour over cut up bread. Let rise 30 minutes to 1 hour. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 – 30 minutes. (Put a sheet pan underneath to catch drips!)
