Moist Brownies

  • Yield 2 dozens

Chocolate, sour cream brownies iced with rich chocolate icing and sprinkled with chopped walnut pieces.

"I take these to most family gatherings and picnics. My grandchildren really go for them."

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs
2 sticks margarine
5 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 cup water
Frosting:
1 pound powdered sugar
1/2 cup walnuts, well chopped
1 stick margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
6 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, sour cream, salt, baking soda, and eggs.
  3. Bring margarine, cocoa and water to a boil in a saucepan. Stir this into flour mixture until smooth.
  4. Pour into a greased and floured 10 x 11-inch jelly roll pan.
  5. Bake 20 to 22 minutes.
  6. Frosting: Bring margarine, cocoa, and milk to a boil in a medium-size saucepan. Remove from heat, add sugar, vanilla, and nuts, and stir until smooth. Frost evenly over cooled brownies.
