Mint Julep

8 fresh mint leaves
1tablespoon simple syrup
2ounces (1/4 cup) bourbon
1sprig of mint


  1. Tear the mint leaves into tiny pieces in a tall glass, discarding the stems.
  2. Cover with the simple syrup and muddle the mixture with the back of a spoon for 10 seconds.
  3. Fill the glass with crushed ice and add the bourbon. Garnish with a mint sprig.
