Maple Walnut Breakfast Bread

1/2 cup water
1 -- egg
1-1/2 tablespoon maple falvoring
1 -- package (15 oz) raisin cinnamon quick bread mix
1 cup shredded, unpeeled tart apple
1-1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts


  1. Preheat oven to 375F. 

  2. In large bowl mix water, egg and flavoring to blend thoroughly.  Add bread mix, apple and walnuts.  Mix to blend thoroughly. 

  3. Turn into greased and floured 8×4-inch loaf pan.  Bake 45-55 minutes until top is springy to the touch and pick inserted into center comes out clean. 

  4. Cool on rack 15 minutes.  Remove from pan and cool completely before slicing. 


This bread is good toasted, and thinly sliced and sandwiched with whipped cream cheese, makes a nice accompaniment to coffee or tea.

Makes 1 loaf
