Layered Taco Salad

  • Yield: 8 to 10 servings


8ounces cream cheese,softened
1/2 cup-- milk
1pkg .15ounces dry taco seasoning mix
3/4cup-- warm water
1 1/2pounds hamburger
1/2 cup-- red onion chopped
3/4 cup-- green pepper, chopped
1 head-- lettuce, shredded
2-- tomatoes,diced
8ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
8ounces shredded cheddar cheese
16ounces taco chips
8ounces Picante or taco sauce, optional


Combine cream cheese and milk. Spread in a 10×15 pan. Brown hamburger; drain off fat and rinse with hot water to rid of excess grease. Mix hamburger with the taco seasoning and  warm water. When cool, spoon over the cream cheese layer. Then add chopped onions, green pepper, shredded lettuce, tomatoes and cheeses, Cover. Refigerate. Just before ready to serve, top with crushed taco chips.  Optional: if desired, serve with picante or tac sauce.
