Layered Taco Salad

  • Yield 8 to 10 servings


8 ounces cream cheese,softened
1/2 cup -- milk
1pkg .15 ounces dry taco seasoning mix
3/4cup -- warm water
1 1/2 pounds hamburger
1/2 cup -- red onion chopped
3/4 cup -- green pepper, chopped
1 head -- lettuce, shredded
2 -- tomatoes,diced
8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
16 ounces taco chips
8 ounces Picante or taco sauce, optional


Combine cream cheese and milk. Spread in a 10×15 pan. Brown hamburger; drain off fat and rinse with hot water to rid of excess grease. Mix hamburger with the taco seasoning and  warm water. When cool, spoon over the cream cheese layer. Then add chopped onions, green pepper, shredded lettuce, tomatoes and cheeses, Cover. Refigerate. Just before ready to serve, top with crushed taco chips.  Optional: if desired, serve with picante or tac sauce.
