You are here: Home » Recipes » Jerry’s Honey-Nut Wheat Bread Jerry’s Honey-Nut Wheat Bread Recipe by California Walnut Board Yield 16 servings Prep 20 mins Cook 45 mins PrintEmail Ingredients 1 cup milk1 cup water1/2 cup honey1/4 cup butter or margarine3 cups whole wheat flour3-4 cups all purpose flour2 packages active dry yeast1 -- egg1 teaspoon salt2 teaspoons cinnamon1 cup raisins1 cup chopped walnuts Instructions In saucepan warm milk, water, honey and butter to 110F In large mixing bowl combine 2 cups of the whole wheat flour, 1 cup of the all purpose flour, yeast, egg, salt, cinnamon and warmed milk mixture; mix to blend. Mix in raisins and nuts. Gradually add remaining whole wheat flour and enough all-purpose flour to form dough. Knead on floured surface, until smooth and satiny, 8 to 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl, turning once. Cover; let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk, 40 to 60 minutes. Bake in 350F oven 40 to 45 until golden until golden and loaves sound when tapped. Remove from pans; cool on wire rack. Makes 2 loaves.
