Jane Polak’s Brownies

  • Yield 12 servings

Ingredients

1 stick margarine
1 stick butter
4 ounces semi sweet chocolate
2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
6 large eggs
3 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Melt together the margarine, butter and chocolate.
  2. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together in a large bowl.
  3. Gradually add the chocolate mixture and mix well.
  4. Cool slightly.
  5. In a medium bowl beat eggs, sugar and vanilla.
  6. Pour into chocolate mixture and mix well.
  7. Fold in chopped nuts.
  8. Spread batter in a  buttered 13X9 inch pan and bake at 325 degrees for approximately 45 minutes.
