PrintEmail Ingredients Chocolate Cake:4 -- squared unsweetened chocolate1/2 cup butter or margarine2 cups sugar2 -- eggs2 cups all-purpose flour2 teaspoons baking powder1 1/4 cups milk1/4 cup Irish whiskey2 teaspoons vanilla extract1 cup chopped walnuts or pecansFrosting:2 cups heavy cream1/3 cup cocoa1 cup powdered sugar1 teaspoon vanilla1/4 cup Irish whiskey1/2 cup chopped walnuts Instructions For the cake: Melt chocolate and allow to cool. Cream butter and sugar. Beat eggs slightly and add to the creamed mixture; stir in cooled chocolate. Sift dry ingredients together and add to butter mixture alternately with milk and whiskey. Blend in vanilla and nuts. Bake in 2 9-inch greased and floured cake pans at 350F for 30 minutes. After cake has cooled, remove from pans and slice horizontally with sharp knife. Spread frosting between layers and on top and sides of cake. For the frosting: Whip cream and cocoa until soft peaks from. Slowly add sugar, vanilla and whiskey; blend well.
