I Don’t Like Green Bean Casserole

  • Yield: 8 servings


4-5cups green beans, fresh & trimmed
1/4pound country ham, chopped
1/4pound bacon, chopped
1small small onion, sliced
6ounces baby bella mushrooms, sliced
1teaspoon thyme
2tablespoons fried garlic **asian market**
1 1/2teaspoons sea salt **to taste**
1-2teaspoon black pepper **to taste**


  1. Sauté bacon in a large heated pot for 3 minutes or until crispy. Remove bacon.  Add mushrooms and thyme to pot.  Fry until mushrooms are golden brown.  Toss in ham, onion and garlic.  Sauté until veggies are translucent.  Add bacon back to the pot…add enough water to cover the meat.  Simmer for 20-30 minutes **this seasons the water**
  2. Add green beans to the pot. Cover and cook on low for 1 ½ hours. Remove from pot and sprinkle fried garlic on top.

** additional water may be needed doing cooking**
