I Don’t Like Green Bean Casserole

  • Yield 8 servings


4-5 cups green beans, fresh & trimmed
1/4 pound country ham, chopped
1/4 pound bacon, chopped
1 small small onion, sliced
6 ounces baby bella mushrooms, sliced
1 teaspoon thyme
2 tablespoons fried garlic **asian market**
1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt **to taste**
1-2 teaspoon black pepper **to taste**


  1. Sauté bacon in a large heated pot for 3 minutes or until crispy. Remove bacon.  Add mushrooms and thyme to pot.  Fry until mushrooms are golden brown.  Toss in ham, onion and garlic.  Sauté until veggies are translucent.  Add bacon back to the pot…add enough water to cover the meat.  Simmer for 20-30 minutes **this seasons the water**
  2. Add green beans to the pot. Cover and cook on low for 1 ½ hours. Remove from pot and sprinkle fried garlic on top.

** additional water may be needed doing cooking**
