Honey Bars

  • Yield: 2 dozens

"This recipe was given to me by a friend when I lived in Georgia. Now I share it with everyone in Indiana."

Ingredients

3/4cup vegetable oil
1/4cup honey
1cup sugar
2cups all-purpose flour
1cup chopped nuts
1 egg, beaten
1teaspoon baking soda
1 1/4teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2teaspoon salt
Icing:
1cup confectioners sugar
1teaspoon vanilla
2tablespoons water
2tablespoons honey
2 to 4tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Mix all ingredients together until evenly blended.
  3. Press into a well-greased rimmed baking sheet.
  4. Bake 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  5. Mix icing ingredients until well blended and thin enough to spread. Spread on bars while they are warm.
  6. Cut bars and remove from pan.
