Homemade Chocolate Brownies

3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup chocolate chips
4 -- eggs
1-1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup flour
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup chopped California walnuts


  1. Preheat oven to 350F and butter a 9-inch square baking pan.

  2. Melt butter and chocolate chips together in a small saucepan over very low heat; let cool.

  3. Beat eggs until light and fluffy in a large bowl. Whisk in sugar then stir in cooled chocolate mixture.

  4. Mix dry ingredients together in a small bowl  and stir into batter. Stir in walnuts.

  5. Spread in prepared pan and bake for  40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
