Holiday Apple Crisp

A not-too-sweet apple dessert.

Ingredients

2 pounds tart cooking apples
1 (16-ounce) can jellied cranberry sauce
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup old-fashioned oatmeal
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 tablespoons margarine, chilled and cut into pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Peel and core apples and slice thin.  Arrange in a 9-inch square baking dish coated with nonstick cooking spray.  Spread cranberry sauce evenly over apples.
  3. Mix cinnamon, oatmeal, flour, brown sugar and vanilla together.  Cut in margarine until crumbly.  Spread mixture over cranberry layer and bake about 40 minutes.
