Highlander Grogg Trifle

  • Yield 12 servings


1 3/4 cups flour
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 -- eggs
1 cup strong brewed Highlander Grogg flavored coffee
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-3 ounce instant butterscotch pudding mix
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 cup cold milk
1-8 ounce container of whipped Topping
1 -8 ounce container of whipped topping
1 cup Bits of Brickle or crushed Butter Brickle candy bars


Combine flour,sugar,cocoa,baking soda,baking powder,and salt in a large bowl.

Add eggs,coffee,buttermilk,oil and vanilla.

Beat at medium speed for 2 mins. * batter will be thin

Pour batter into 2 greased 9 in. cake pans

Bake at 350 degrees for about 30-35 mins.

Cool cake

cut into about 1 to 2 inch cubes

First Layer: cover bottom of a glass bowl or Trifle bowl with Butterscotch Cream

Second Layer cake cubes to cover first layer

Third layer Butterscotch cream to cover cake layer

Fourth Layer whipped topping

Continue above layer in same order

End with whipped topping and sprinkle with 1 cup Bits of Brinkle topping or crushed Butter Brickle type candy bars
