Greek Yogurt with Fresh Pears and Toasted Walnuts

A simple, Greek-style breakfast that focuses on fruits and nuts but provides more energy than a toaster pastry.
You can also serve this simple-yet-sublime concoction for dessert.
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 star anise
- 4 peppercorns
- 2 pears, peeled, cored and diced
- 2 cups Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup walnuts, toasted and coarsely chopped
- Combine water, sugar, spices and pears in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until pears are tender, about 10 minutes.
- Place ½ cup of yogurt into each of 4 serving bowls. Top with pears and a little cooking liquid. Top with walnuts.
