Grandma's Raisin Pie

Sweet and simple, easy to prepare pie. Equally delicious served warm or room temperature. Prepare or purchase 2-crust pie crust in advance


2 pie crusts
2cups California Raisins
2cups water, divided
1/2cup brown sugar
2tablespoons cornstarch
1teaspoon cinnamon
1/8teaspoon salt
1tablespoon butter
1tablespoon lemon juice


  1. Preheat oven to 425F.
  2. Place bottom crust in 8-inch pie pan.
  3. Boil raisins and 1 3/4 cups of water for 5 minutes.
  4. Mix brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and salt in a separate bowl until well combined.
  5. After raisins and water have boiled for 5 minutes, add sugar mixture and remaining 1/4 cup water. Stir and return to a boil. Remove from heat. Add butter and lemon juice. Stir until butter is melted.
  6. Pour into pie shell. Cover with top crust, pinching edges together to form rim. Cut slits in top crust. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture. Bake 25 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool before slicing.
