This simple raisin pie include ingredients you likely have on hand all the time.

My mom made this simple raisin pie for the kids when she couldn't afford to buy more expensive ingredients for dessert. It was a treat for everyone.

2 cups California Raisins
2 cups water, divided
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon butter
1 unbaked pie shell

  1. Preheat oven to 425F.
  2. Boil raisins in 1 3/4 cups of water 5 minutes.
  3. Mix brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt and remaining 1/4 cup water. Add to raisins. Stir until mixture returns to a boil. Add butter and vinegar and remove from heat. Pour into pie shell. Bake 25 minutes.
