Beat egg whites and cream of tartar while gradually adding sugar and salt. If desired, add flavoring and coloring at this time. Drop by teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Put cookies into oven, turn off oven and go to bed. When you wake up, the cookies will be done. (Leave in oven at least 4 hours).
