Girl Scout Camp Chocolate Cake
- Yield 6 - 9 servings
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional
- 1/3 cup canola or vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup water
Stir together all dry ingredients in a medium size bowl. Then add the liquid ingredients, and stir by hand until well combined. Pour into a 9 x 9 inch cake pan. (I just mix everything together in my cake pan with a fork!) Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
Serve cake warm, or you can top it with ice cream, or whipped cream. If you prefer you can frost it after it has cooled, but I warn you that it probably won't be around long enough to frost!
Makes just enough for an after-school snack or for a family dinner. Enjoy!
