German Cream Cheese Brownies

1package Baker's German Sweet Chocolate
3tablespoons butter
1-- (3-ounce) package cream cheese
2tablespoons butter
1/4cup sugar
1-- egg
1tablespoon flour
1/2teaspoon vanilla
2-- eggs
3/4cup sugar
1/2cup flour
1/2teaspoon baking powder
1/4teaspoon salt
1teaspoon vanilla
1/4teaspoon almond extract
1/2cup nuts, chopped


  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Melt chocolate and butter in double boiler, stirring constantly.  Set aside to cool.
  3. Cream butter and cream cheese until soft; gradually add sugar. Stir in egg, flour and vanilla until well blended.  Set aside.
  4. Beat eggs until fluffy; then gradually add sugar.  Mix dry ingredients and fold into egg mixture.  Add vanilla and almond extract.  Blend in cooled chocolate mixture and nuts.  Measure 1 cup chocolate mixture and set aside.  Spread remaining chocolate mixture into greased 9-inch pan.  Pour cheese mixture on top.  Drop remaining chocolate mixture on to cheese mixture by spoonfuls and swirl just to marble.  Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.  Cool, cut into bars and refrigerate until served.
