PrintEmail Ingredients 4 ounces German's sweet chocolate1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter1 1/3 cups evaporated milk1 1/2 cups sugar3 tablespoons cornstarch1/8 teaspoon salt2 -- eggs1 teaspoon vanilla extract1 -- unbaked (9- or 10-inch) pie shell1 1/3 cups flaked coconut1/2 cup pecans, chopped Instructions Melt the chocolate and butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in the evaporated milk gradually. Remove from the heat. Mix the sugar, cornstarch and salt in a large bowl. Mix the eggs and vanilla in a bowl. Stir into the sugar mixture. Stir in the chocolate mixture gradually. Pour into the pie shell. Mix the coconut and pecans in a bowl. Sprinkle over the filling. Bake at 375F for 45 to 50 minutes. Do not overbake; the filling should still be soft in the center. Remove to a wire rack to cool. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
