  • Yield 24 servings

These tasty pralines will cure any sweet tooth.

1 cup brown sugar
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 tablespoon butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups pecan halves

  1. Line baking sheets with waxed paper.  In saucepan combine sugars and water.  Stir over medium heat until sugars are melted.  Bring to boil; boil to soft ball stage (236F).  Remove from heat; stir in butter, salt and vanilla.  Beat until syrup starts to become creamy.  Stir in pecans.  Drop by teaspoon onto baking sheets.  If candy becomes too hard to drop from spoon, place pan over hot water; stir a few drops of hot water into mixture to soften.
