Fudge Pudding

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons cocoa, divided
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup granulated sugar, divided
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 cups hot water


  1. Preheat oven to 350F
  2. Mix together flour, salt, 2 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and 1/2 cup granulated sugar in 2-quart deep baking dish.
  3. Combine milk, melted butter and vanilla.  Mix into dry ingredients in baking dish, beating well by hand.
  4. Combine remaining 3 tablespoons cocoa, remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar and brown sugar and sprinkle over cake batter. Pour hot water over all and place pan in oven.
  5. Bake 30 to 40 minutes.
