FRIED GREEN TOMATOES

  • Yield 3 or 4 servings

Ingredients

4 or 5 -- green tomatoes sliced 1/4" thick
4 cups -- fine corn meal
1 cup -- flour
1/4 teaspoon salt & pepper
1 quart cold icy water

Instructions

 COVER TOMATOES WITH ICY WATER FOR 15 MINUTES AND SOAK.

MIX FLOUR, CORN MEAL AND SALT & PEPPER.  PAT TOMATOES IN MIXTURE. 

FRY IN OIL UNTIL BROWN ON EACH SIDE.
