Fannie Farmer Bars

This is a great recipe for chocolate lovers.


1/2 cup baking cocoa
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup flour
2 -- eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 -- (10-ounce) package miniature marshmallows
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup water
3 tablespoons margarine
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Combine the cocoa, butter and salt in a saucepan.  Heat until the butter is melted, stirring frequently.  Sift the sugar and flour into a bowl.  Add the eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla and mix well.  Stir into the cocoa mixture.  Spoon into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.  Bake at 325F until the layer tests done.  Sprinkle with miniature marshmallows.  Bake until the marshmallows are softened.  Spread evenly over the baked layer.  Combine the brown sugar, water, margarine and cocoa in a saucepan.  Cook for 3 minutes, stirring frequently.  Beat in the confectioners' sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla.  Drizzle over the baked layer.  Cut into small squares.
