“Dee” best 5 bean chili

  • Yield 8-10 servings


1 1/2 pounds 85% ground beef
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar/ ground mustard and Franks hot sauce
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 cup catsup and water
2 cans Ro-Tel diced tomatoes with chilies
1 teaspoon black pepper
3 leaves bay leaves( whole/remove before serving)
1 medium red and yellow pepper and onion (diced)
2 packages Mccormick chili seasoning mix (original)
1 can each pinto, black, white, black-eyed peas and kidney beans


  1. brown ground beef and drain
  2. drain and rinse well all beans
  3. drain tomatoes with chilies
  4. in very large mixing bowl:
  5. mix all ingredients except the beans and beef
  6. add beans and gently mix
  7. add beef and mix well
  8. pour into large crock pot and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours
  9. makes large crock pot – # of servings depends on appetite :)
