Danish Puff

Ingredients
- Pastry:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1 tablespoon water
- Filling:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- Frosting:
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 to 2 tablespoon milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- To prepare the pastry, combine flour, butter and water, cutting in with two knives to form dough similar to a pie crust. Spread and press into 10-inch tart pan.
- To prepare the filling, combine water and butter in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Add flour; stir until smooth. Stir in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add almond extract. Pour over crust. Bake 55 to 60 minutes.
- To prepare the frosting, combine confectioners’ sugar, butter and almond flavoring. Add milk, a little at a time, until frosting is a spreading consistency. Spread over baked puff. Serves 12.
