Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake

Cinnamon Streusel:
1cup packed brown sugar
1/4cup granulated sugar
1teaspoon ground cinnamon
1cup chopped nuts
Coffee Cake:
2cups all-purpose flour
1teaspoon baking soda
1teaspoon baking powder
1/2teaspoon salt
1cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1cup sugar
2 eggs
1teaspoon vanilla extract
1cup sour cream


  1. To prepare the streusel, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and mix well.  Stir in the nuts.
  2. To prepare the coffee cake, mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt together.
  3. Beat together butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla and sour cream. Add flour mixture to butter mixture, a little at a time, beating well after each addition.  The batter will be thick.
  4. Spread the batter and streusel half at a time in a lightly greased 9×9-inch baking pan, ending with the streusel.  Bake at 325F for 40 minutes or until the coffee cake tests done.
