Chocolate Brownie Cake

  • Yield 12 servings

This is truly a chocolate lover's dream.


2 cups sugar
2 cups self-rising flour
1/2 cup (1 stick margarine
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
Chocolate Icing


  1. Combine the sugar and flour in a bowl and mix well.  Combine the margarine, oil, baking cocoa and water in a saucepan.  Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.  Pour over the sugar mixture and mix well.  Add the vanilla, eggs and buttermilk and mix well.  Pour into a 9×13-inch baking pan sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.  Bake at 300F for 45 to 60 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.  Spread chocolate icing over the hot cake.
