Caramel Icing or Brown Sugar Icing

1 stick butter
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/4 cup milk
2 cups powdered sugar


  1. Melt the butter in saucepan.  Add the brown sugar and the milk.  Bring to a boil. Let cool. Add powdered sugar to spreading consistency — it may take more than the 2 cups.  Spread immediately onto cake.  Cover cake to keep moist.
