- Yield servings
- 3 3/4 cups sugar
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 6 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup butter, melted (2 sticks)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 unbaked pie shells
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Combine sugar, flour, eggs, buttermilk, butter and vanilla. Mix until well blended. Pour into pie shells. Bake for 10 minutes at 450 degrees. Reduce heat to 350 degrees, and bake an additional 40 to 50 minutes, until center is firm.
Tips from Our Test Kitchen: If the crust starts to become too brown, place and aluminum foil ring over the crusts, but not over the whole pie. The filling is “loose” and will adhere to the foil.
