PrintEmail Ingredients Cake:1 cup butter1/4 cup cocoa1 cup water1/2 cup buttermilk2 large eggs1 teaspoon baking soda1 teaspoon vanilla extract2 cups sugar2 cups all-purpose flour1/2 teaspoon salt -- Chocolate-Buttermilk Frosting (recipe follows)Chocolate-Buttermilk Frosting:1 cup butter1/4 cup cocoa1/3 cup buttermilk1 -- (16-ounce) package powdered sugar1 teaspoon vanilla extract1/4 cup chopped pecans Instructions To prepare the cake: Cook first 3 ingredients in a small saucpan over low heat, stirring constantly, until butter melts and mixture is smooth; remove from heat. Beat buttermilk and next 3 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Add butter mixture to buttermilk mixture, beating until blended. Combine sugar, flour and salt; gradually add to buttermilk mixture, beating until blended. Pour into a greased 15×10-inch jellyroll pan. Bake cake at 350F for 15 to 20 minutes or until set. Spread Chocolate-Buttermilk Frosting over warm cake. Cut into squares while warm. Cool before serving. To prepare the frosting: Cook first 3 ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until butter melts and mixture is smooth.
