Buttermilk Brownies

  • Yield 24 servings

Ingredients

2 sticks butter or margarine
1 cup water
4 tablespoons cocoa
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 -- eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 stick butter
4 tablespoons cocoa
1/3 cup milk
1 pound powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Bring 2 sticks butter or margarine, water,  and 4 T. cocoa to a boil.
  2. Sift together sugar, flour,  salt,  and baking soda.
  3. Add dry ingredients to hot mix.
  4. Add eggs, buttermilk, and 1 t. vanilla.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 min. in 13 x 9 cake pan.
  6. Bring 1 stick butter, 4 T. cocoa and milk to a boil for frosting.
  7. Add  powdered sugar and 1 t. vanilla.
  8. Stir well and frost.
